DSA Athletics Trials

Purpose

To identify students with the technical skills who has potential to develop into good Athletes. In addition to these talents and abilities, we also look for students with the right aptitude and character disposition to become a good Josephian.

 

Process in brief

Applicants will be group according to Track & Field Specialization (Jumps, Throws, Sprints and Cross-Country). Applicants will go through a series of tasks based on their Specializations.

During the trials, teachers and coaches will be separately observing and identifying applicants  based on their performances and information gathered from (in no particular order and non-exhaustive);

 

·                 Time Trials (eg: 30m Sprints, 60m Sprints, 100m Sprints, Hurdles, 800m Run, 1600m Run, etc)

·                 Distance & Height Achieved (eg: Shot Put, Medicine Ball Throws, Long Jump, Standing Broad Jump, Vertical Jump, etc)

·                 Participation & Ranking in National School Games (NSG) Track & Field or Cross-Country Events

·                 Napfa Results

·                 Other Participations & Achievements (eg: Track & Field Events, Sports CCA, etc)

 

Applicants must be prepared to be tried out for additional tasks for more observations.

 

Interviews will be conducted to gather additional information on the experience, commitment, etc. Upon completion of the trials and interview, the teachers will present a ranked list to the DSA Selection Committee for consideration.

 

How parents are informed subsequently.

The teachers and coach will not be able to provide any results on the outcome of the DSA selection results and any communication will be through the DSA Selection Committee only. Shortlisted students may have to attend separate interview on another occasion and this will also be made known via official DSA email.
